What Can We Expect This Coming Summer?

A Safe Haven

In the past few weeks, many economists and financial advisors have been speaking on the subject of where to place your money during turbulent times. One safe haven during potential moments of higher inflation and lower GDP growth is...real estate.

Yes, hard assets like real estate tend to weather storms pretty well. And if one of those assets also serves an essential need - shelter - it is performing two tasks and resolving two challenges simultaneously: A safer investment and a place to live. Aside from the economic considerations, it's in times of extreme turbulence, change, and uncertainty that we all need our little slice of 'safe-haven' and a home that acts as a hug at the end of a day, drowning out the noise of the planet, maybe the perfect solution.

Yes, hard assets are tangible. You can see them, touch them, feel them...experience them, and that's priceless!

Gen Z is expected to become the largest and richest economic force by 2035. According to a recent Bank of America report, the youngest generation of workers will amass over $74 trillion in income by 2040. It will be a stark—and welcome—change from their current reality of flying by the seat of their pants.

DID YOU KNOW?
Americans have hit an odd contradiction: They have amassed $35 trillion of wealth in their homes, yet many feel less well off because of it, mostly due to rising real estate taxes, insurance costs, and replacement costs. In the fourth quarter of 2024, consumers tapped only 0.41% of their available home equity, well below the 0.92% average, mostly due to higher interest rates. The color of light changes throughout the day, from bright bluish light in the morning to warm, yellow light in the late afternoon. In the morning, the light from the east is cooler and in the evening, as the sun goes down, it gets warmer. So the mood and ambience naturally changes across the day. Having layers of light fixtures that can respond to those changes can help make a home feel welcoming throughout the day. It is good for our skin to absorb these different shades of tight too. Forget social clubs and extravagant dinners. The health-conscious elite are flocking to high-end clinics in the hopes of getting ahead of the aging process...and membership can cost up to $250,000! (WSJ)

Orange County, CA and Aspen, Colorado, are two of the TOP 10 fastest-growing luxury markets...in the world. But did you know that Seoul, South Korea, is the number one fastest-rising luxury market? (Visual Capitalist)

MARKET REPORT

How's the Market?

Altos Research analytics compares the rate of sales versus inventory per zip code. As of April 10th, the median list price for Newport Beach, CA 92663 is $5,599,500 with a slight uptick in inventory from the previous month. The overall narrative:  Sellers maintain an advantage in our coastal neighborhoods and prices have been flat for several weeks. It's not a surprise, given the political headlines and unprecedented shifts in the stock market. While some buyers are in pause mode, others are taking advantage...shifting money into real estate and taking advantage of lower interest rates.
