Happy New Year! Strive in 2025.

"For last year’s words belong to last year’s language and next year’s words await another voice. And to make an end is to make a beginning."
–T.S. Eliot

DID YOU KNOW?
A Harvard Study of Adult Development found that happy people tend to have good conflict-resolution skills, exercise often, and maintain positive relationships. The happiest people care about making a difference in the world, and they care about the world very early in life. Even if their purpose changes, the people who stay with that aspiration stay engaged in life. (CNBC)

DID YOU KNOW?
Like many people who invest in real estate, soccer superstar star Lionel Messi has a property portfolio valued at $232 million...held in a REIT or real estate trust. One of the biggest appeals? Tax savings/advantages. (Yahoo Finance)

DID YOU KNOW?

What will be the design trend of 2025? Minimalism? Maximalism? I think we're already in the era of INDIVIDUALISM.....the design trend that ignores trends and simply appeals to an individual's wants and likes, which may include a maximalist ornate fixture juxtaposed against a minimal backdrop...or visa versa...or one or the other....or none of the above. While trends have ruled design for centuries, it's possible the aesthetic of the individual has arrived.

President Jimmy Carter, on June 20, 1979, unveiled 32 solar panels installed atop the White House. They were removed in the 80's. In 2003, solar thermal heaters were re-installed to heat water for landscape, maintenance personnel, and the presidential pool and spa. 167 solar photovoltaic grid-tied panels were installed at the same time on the roof of the maintenance facility. The changes were not publicized. Solar panels were reinstalled on the roof panels in 2013, making it the first time solar power would be used for the president's living quarters.

Yes, I love the concept of thriving in 2025. We certainly have earned it after a tumultuous few years that have made us MUCH stronger, wiser, more nimble.
So, while this is the year we may truly bear the fruits of our labors, I still believe that while we're thriving, we also need to be striving...

Striving to be better, smarter, more innovative, more creative. Kinder. More practical and pragmatic. More efficient. More informed. More______?
The moment you stop striving is the moment you can become complacent. That can lead to stagnation and worse. Complacency allows others to do what you should be doing in this highly competitive, fast-paced world. The Old French origin of this word 'strive', estriver ("quarrel," "dispute"), had its 800th birthday not too long ago. The concept of striving is embedded in our DNA: it's in our very nature.

So what can you strive for in 2025? What will your role be? How will you participate, contribute, act, etc? What changes might you consider? What can you learn this year? Where can you travel? Who can you connect with? What can you do to improve your health and the health of those around you, physically and mentally? What of that which was successful, enjoyable, rewarding, etc in 2024 might you do more of?

Today is a great day to reflect, think, and marinate. Today is the first day of hundreds of days - almost 6,000 awake hours - that lie before you that, come December 31st, might shock you by just how much you were able to achieve and evolve.

Get ready, get set...STRIVE in 2025!
